This is the board. Not a made-to-order version — the exact solid, figured-walnut board in the photographs, hand-built in our Leo, Indiana workshop. Figured walnut is chosen for dramatic movement — curl, crotch feathering, and marbled grain that shifts as you move around it — so no other board anywhere looks quite like this one. When it finds its home, it's gone.

Included free — a 3.5 oz tin of Timber Silk Board Butter ($18 value). Your board ships with our hand-blended, food-safe conditioner — food-safe mineral oil, triple-filtered organic beeswax, and a touch of carnauba — so you can keep it nourished and water-resistant from the very first day.

One surface, two lives

A face-grain board built to work as hard as it shows. Put it under a chef's knife as a durable everyday cutting board, or set it out as a showcase serving tray for cheeses, breads, and grazing spreads. It carries from counter to table without missing a beat.

Solid wood, built to last

Wide boards are never cut from a single plank — a lone wide board cups and cracks as it ages. Instead we joint and glue solid staves of figured walnut into a flat, stable panel, grain-matched so it reads as one continuous surface. All solid hardwood — no veneer, no filler — built the way fine boards have always been made to stay true for decades.

Specifications

• Size: 12 × 18 × 1″ (target). Because this is a one-of-one milled to feature the very best of the grain, finished thickness may vary slightly.
• Wood: solid, single-species figured walnut, face grain, built from grain-matched staves.
• Edges: a crisp 25° chamfer along the bottom edge for an easy lift-and-grip, with a soft chamfer on the top edge for a finished, hand-friendly feel.
• Stability: discreet rubber feet keep it planted and lift it off the counter for airflow and faster drying.
• Finish: hand-sanded and sealed with food-safe oil. One of a kind — there is no second.

The Hidden Smart Tag — A Living Connection, Built In

Set flush into the underside is an embedded NFC chip — invisible from above, part of the craft, not bolted on. Tap it with any smartphone (no app to download) and a private page opens, unique to this board and powered by our Tapped platform. We program it with a personal message, illustrated care & keeping guides, and the story of its build — and because the page lives online, it can grow with the piece long after it ships.

Care

Hand wash with mild soap, dry immediately, and refresh with food-safe board oil every few months. Never soak or put in the dishwasher. The full care guide lives on the board's smart-tag page — just tap to open it.
