Our face-grain construction lays each board flat to show the widest, most figured surfaces of the wood — the curl of the maple, the depth of the walnut, the warmth of the cherry, all framed by padauk pinstripes. Face grain shows the broadest, most dramatic grain patterns of any construction style. It's the best canvas for laser engraving and the natural choice if your board will spend as much time serving as cutting. For heavy daily knife work, consider our edge-grain board — a denser surface that's gentler on blades.
